For several years, Kamēr… has focused on performing specially commissioned original programs. One of the choir’s most ambitious artistic projects is World Sun Songs (2008), for which 17 internationally renowned composers created new works about the Sun. The line-up included Sir John Tavener, Giya Kancheli, Sven-David Sandström, Leonid Desyatnikov, John Luther Adams, Steven Stucky, Dobrinka Tabakova, Ko Matsushita, among others.

Naturally extending the solar theme, the choir continued this artistic trajectory with Love Madrigals (2010), Moon Songs (2012), and Amber Songs (2014). These cycles feature choral miniatures by prominent Latvian and international composers, with each program revolving around a central theme—love, the moon, or Latvian folk songs symbolically “set in amber.”

In 2018, in tribute to the visionary artist Ilmārs Blumbergs, who designed the choir’s logo and most of its album covers, Kamēr… created the unique concert-exhibition The Servant. Blumbergs. Kamēr…, which featured world premieres of works commissioned especially for the choir.

Kamēr… actively explores genre fusion and new means of artistic expression. With singers taking on the roles of dancers and actors, the choir has staged several theatrical productions, including

The Covenant of Jersika (an oratorio by Līga Celma, 2010), The Christmas Legend (a musical narrative by Ēriks Ešenvalds, 2010), Der Mond (a chamber opera by Carl Orff, 2012), and Canticles of the Holy Wind (a meditative work by John Luther Adams, 2013).

The choir’s boundless youthful energy was showcased at its 25th anniversary concert in May 2015 at the Latvian National Opera, where Kamēr… premiered three major works composed especially for the occasion: Bird in Sleep (Putna miegā) by Ēriks Ešenvalds, highlighting the choir as a nuanced a cappella ensemble; A Legend About Us (Leģenda par mums) by Raimonds Tiguls, presenting the choir as a powerful visual and musical unit; and Spring Rounds by Gabriel Jackson, where Kamēr… emerged as a brilliant partner to a full orchestra.

Almost the entire collection of original music written for Kamēr…, alongside a significant portion of choral classics, has been preserved in highly acclaimed recordings. Among the most recent releases, Pelēcis. Plakidis. Kamēr… (honoring two renowned Latvian composers on their anniversaries), and The Servant. Blumbergs. Kamēr… have both won the Latvian Music Recording Award for Best Academic Music Album.
